THIS IS AN ORIGINAL MONOPRINT MOUNTED ON CANVAS
A natural expressionist, Sally Russell uses brilliant oil paint, often multi-layered to create vivid still lifes along with bold and dazzling impressionistic, abstract flowers, reminiscent of Georgia O'Keefe. Sally's work has been featured in many museum exhibitions, a sold out one woman show at J Carole Art Gallery in Taos, New Mexico and a featured artist at Opus One Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Her work is in many private collections throughout the US and Europe. "Look long enough at a poppy painting like Taos Ballet" says Taos newspaper Horsefly's reviewer Dory Hulbert, "and flamenco dancers emerge in form like Degas..."
Originally from Denver, she settled in Venice, California where she owned a salon for 16 years prior to starting her artistic career. She attended Otis College of Art in Los Angeles, along with art workshops in California and New Mexico. Inspired by the intensely creative community of artists and writers, she moved to Taos where she can be seen painting en plein air and in her studio. Sally is represented in Taos by The Farnsworth Gallery in Taos, Opus One Gallery in Atlanta, and Spirits of the Wind Gallery in Golden, Colorado.
